The main objective of the IGEOMAR project is to develop original and innovative methodologies in the field of geotechnical engineering for the study of marine subsoil from a research vessel.

Project completion is expected in mid 2014. The first phase has successfully been completed with the development of a prototype heave compensator, which will, from a theoretical point of view, comprehend and analyse how compensation occurs as well as the interaction of the various system components.
